06.14.2015: Traffic Jam

The rest of the drive was somewhat more scenic and uneventful.  We headed back down south towards the lake and campsite.  At one point, we got backed up in a little traffic jam with 100 cars waiting to park in about 10 spots.  We couldn't figure out what everyone was looking at, but saw rangers there directing traffic and monitoring the people that were out there with their cameras.  As we drove by the parking area, there were a few "professionals" with their heavy duty video cameras setup up facing the trees.  As we passed we could see a mama & baby bear laying under one of the trees.  Tried to capture it on camera, but you can barely see it without zooming in.  But they were there!!

After passing that traffic jam, and as we got closer to Canyon Village, we encountered another jam up.  This time, there were buffalo in the road!  it was pretty cool.  Some people were just stopped and watching....therefore holding up the hundreds of people behind them.  It was cool, but no, I'm not going to roll my window down to try to pet them (I was in the back seat anyways....therefore there was no rolling windows).  And no, Brent would not stop the van in the middle of the road so we could get out and take selfies with them either.  Damn.  Oh well...what a boring group!

Guess it was time to go back to camp for happy hour.

See those 2 black things at the base of the tree....those are bears.
