Next stop was the Artists Paint Pots. They look really cool from the maps & pictures. Paint pots are a collection of geothermal features in the park such as mud pools, hot springs, geysers, and fumaroles. They are located all throughout the park, but this particular section has a big collection of them. We parked and headed out...only to realized that it is about a half mile hike to the pots. Not a big deal for most of the crew, but Avery isn't the easiest "hiker" and Mom was still hurting from her shingles. (Update on that -- she is still in a HUGE amount of pain with sores on her neck, back and chest. We were putting cream on them and covering them with bandages so they wouldn't be as irritated and so she couldn't scratch at them. Still looked pretty miserable!! She was taking tons of pain meds, which is all that kept her going. Such a trooper though. I don't know that anyone else in the group could have handled it....really.)
Back to the pots....first stop on the trail was some geothermal features and the milky blue pots. Around the corner of the trail was some random steaming geysers. Then comes a big hill. Avery, Mom & Dad hung out at the bottom looking for buffalo poop...haha! Well, according to Avery, that is what they did :) The rest of us hiked up the hill to check out the rest of the artists pots. From the top of the hill, you could see forever. It was gorgeous!!! Sorry for all the scenery pics on here...but that's what this place is all about. Still, the pictures does NOT do it justice. Yellowstone is definitely one of those places you need to experience for yourself.
