06.12.2015: Hello, Yellowstone National Park

Ahhhh there you, beloved Yellowstone!  We have been waiting for you!!  Or maybe you have been waiting for us...who knows?!

We entered the park and when we saw the sign, I was so excited...it was just as I remembered it!! OK, maybe not, but at least from the pictures, it looked like the same sign.  Wanted to stop and pull over and take a pic with it...but again, Brent was on a mission.  We decided maybe on the way out....hmmm.

The route to the campground was so pretty...driving along Yellowstone Lake.  Again, everything looked so beautiful to us!  Pulled into the campground, and Mom & Brent went to go check in.  We had reservations for 3 sites....and hoped to get them all close together.  When you reserved them, it was pretty sketchy on what you would get & where...and forbidden to try to get anything together!  So, when we did score some sites next to each other, we were pretty excited.  Luckily I think we got there early enough to get our pick...plus the time of year...a little early for the big summer crowds.  All big pluses!

So we got 3 sites because we weren't sure how big they would be & how many tents we could fit in each. We had 3 tents with our crew...and Holly, Sue & JC were joined tomorrow with another tent.  So when we got to the sites, we found spots for all 3 of our tents in one site...one site would be the "hospitality" site for all the group activities....gathering, cooking, firepits, etc......and one for the rest of the crew joining us tomorrow.  Worked out PERFECT!!

Once we got all our tents setup and stuff all unpacked, we settled in our chairs around the fire for some drinks, happy hours, snacks and relaxation!!!  Sooooo ready for that!!  Mom was still pretty beat from her shingles so she relaxed.  We took the kids over to the amphitheater to see the 5pm "show"...but it wasn't going on.  So we wandered back to the campsite for more drinks and food.  Looks like the kiddos will have to entertain themselves in the woods for the next few hours instead! :)

Simple dinner tonight...hot dogs & chili....no fuss!!!!
Vince, Alisa and I dipped into the scotch tonight...had some good stuff!  Warmed us up nice & quick, as it was chilly tonight...got down to the 30's at night on this trip, which was perfect for us AZ people.   It was an amazing first night by the fire and hanging out in Yellowstone.  We didn't encounter any rouge, campsite threatening wildlife tonight...but there is always tomorrow!!

Chilling in Dad's hammock

Avery picked Vince a pretty flower....
One also ended up in his glass of scotch because she said "it makes it better".
She tried to put in his glass earlier and he said NO.  She walked off, like whatever, and a few minutes later, somehow it ended up in his glass.  She gave him the look like "What?! It wasn't me...it just fell in."  Took a while to get her to admit she put it in...slick little girl.  We laughed about that one for a while.

Always cold...must be an AZ boy!
