Tonight, Vince and I were invited to attend a special event and dinner at the Ambassador's home in Bahrain. His family's home was about 20mins from our hotel, so we took a taxi there - as it is VERY unwise to get caught drinking and driving in this country!! Ambassador Siberell and his wife, Arnavaz, were wonderful hosts! Their kids were upstairs but didn't come to dinner as it was a school night. The Ambassador and his wife took time to speak with each one of us as guests and spend some time to get to know us all personally. We were able to spend time speaking with Col. Worden (the Astronaut), and many other Generals and distinguished visitors there.
When the evening came to a close, we had to find our way home. Again, having no cell service, and being in a gated neighborhood, we had no way of calling or hailing a cab to take us back to our hotel. It was a MESS. The guards at the front ended up calling a cap for us, which took forever, but we were thankful to make it back to our hotel! Such a FUN and AMAZING night rubbing elbows with some wonderful people!
