11.15.2018: Bahrain National Museum

Halfway between the mosque and the hotel was the Bahrain National Museum....so I stopped off there! It was a warm afternoon, so being inside, in the AC seemed like the perfect way to spend a few hours.  There was hardly anyone in there, so I took my time going through all the exhibits and taking in the history of the country.  It was fascinating! After my tour I stopped in the café and had lunch.  One of the best iced teas every and a wonderful sandwich!  There were only 2 other people in the café, but the food was delicious! After lunch and on my way out, the guard at the door stopped me to ask a few questions.  He was bored, and knew I was probably from America, so had a million questions for me.  It was nice talking to him.  He had never been out of the country and always wanted to come to the US on vacation.  We talked about politics, the tourist attractions of the US, the diversity in the topography, country and culture.  Truly the nicest guy who seemed genuinely interested in our country.  After talking to him for a while, I set off on my trek back to our hotel.  I decided to walk it, as it was only about a mile away.  Not the greatest of ideas, but it was along a very busy street, so it was safe, just awkward!! Made it back just fine, and just in time for a quick nap before Vince and Mark returned from the show!
