We have arrived!!! 19+ hours later, we touched down in Bahrain. Getting through customs wasn't horrible except it took forever. We landed at about 1am, so they don't have a ton of people working at that time, however had 3 flights coming in. Kevin from the Arizona Commerce Authority got in at the same time so we carpooled him over to hotel since we rented a car. The boon-doggle of renting a car was ridiculous. Took over an hour, but eventually got a car and were on our way!
We are staying at one of the only beach-front resorts in the country. It is beautiful! I really wanted to stay on the water, thinking why not stay right on the Persian Gulf if you can?! I'm glad we did. Although the downtown hotels were nicer, more "chainy", more modern, I felt like we wee more in the culture of the country staying here. Off the beaten path, beautiful views, local architecture, nice rooms! So far, so good!!! Time to get some sleep - trying to avoid this whole jet-lag thing!
