10.21.2015: Starbucks, Beer & Fried Chicken

Tonight we wanted something a little more familiar for dinner....as in not Korean food.  We have been enjoying it but need a break!  I was craving Italian or some carbs, Vince wanted American-ish.  So we were on a hunt.  I had seen a few breweries and know that they are an emerging market here, so thought we should be able to find one! The more we looked, the less we found, and more hangry we got.  At this point we just wanted something non-Korean.  Good luck!  We were in the back alleys of Insadong again.  These seem to be the best places to find just about anything.  We happened upon a Starbucks, and we had been going in every single one we saw to try to find our "you are here" mugs.  Again, no luck, but we found some cool pint glasses and a Seoul thermos.  Somewhat successful.

So, back on the hunt, we find a brewery!  Or what looks like a brewery!  In the window, we stumbled up on a place that said it was a pizza place....and they advertised that they had fried chicken.  How can you go wrong with either of those?!  So we go in.  There are cool kegs everywhere, whiskey barrels with barley & wheat & hops in them.  Lots of cool signs...lots of Guinness signs.  The waiters look cool....very casual.  So we sit & order some beers.  All they have are German beers though.  Strange. And not ones that you are usually familiar with...but I was ok with it!  They imported some micros.

On to the menu.  They said they were a pizza place but had fried chicken with a side of fries....Vince was sold!  They had something that had spaghetti, bacon and tomato sauce on it...so I was happy!  Everything else on the menu was basically Korean.

When our meals came out, we were a little shocked.  Haha!  The fired chicken was basically sweet & sour chicken over French fries.  My pasta was completely acceptable, but very spicy (think they over did the crushed red pepper flakes!).  Also the "bacon" was actually chunks of ham.  But whatever, it was close.  We laughed at their interpretation of fried chicken and bacon, but thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

We did a little more walking around that night, then headed back to the hotel.  Another long day ahead of us tomorrow.....
