We can't come to Lake Mead without going to visit Bills cross and have a little toast in his honor. Water level is so low this year that we couldn't camp over in that area....but there was just enough space to get the boat and SeaDoos in safely so we could hike up the mountain.
We brought a bottle of Tequila and some shot glasses, and some Gatorade for the kids. The kids decorated some rocks and brought those to place around the cross too. We stood around, thought about one of our favorite people we have had the honor of knowing, and said a few words. Then we did exactly what Bill would have wanted us to do - take a shot for him! It is always emotional coming back here for some reason. So many good memories with him. Not that we don't think of him at other times, but he rarely, if ever missed a Lake Mead trip with the family, so this place is special when it comes to memories of him.
It is so good to see that the cross has withstood the elements and everything else, and is still there. I hope it always will be. See you next trip....
