Adding to the unusual start this year, Alisa and I ended up at a different store to shop at! We always leave just before the rest of the crew and hit the grocery store for all the perishables while the rest of the crew goes straight to the lake to launch the toys and start the houseboat process. It takes a couple hours to get thru it all so they all like to get there when it opens - and allows us to get the store run in and grab breakfast for the group on the way. No idea where I went wrong, but we ended up at a different store than usual, in the ghetto. BUT it was actually a closer drive for us, as it dumped us out at the north end of the lake. So was actually better in the long run, but the store itself wasn't great!! (aka, it didn't have Starbucks. Good thing we got ours at the Rio before we left!)
Once we got to Cauville Bay, the usual dance began. Carts were waiting for us to finish unloading the luggage, food, drinks, provisions, etc. Since we have a smaller group this year, it didn't take long at all! And it was slightly overcast so we didn't even get burnt out in the sun! We were unloaded and waiting on the boat for the final checkin in no time!
The other unusual thing this year was that Dad got to ride in the houseboat with us! He threw his back out this week, working on their boat, so was in a ton of pain and had very limited range of motion. So, he had a hard time getting in & out of the ski boat, and the banging of the boat on the waves along the way would have been very painful! So, he got to hang with us!
We had a few snags along the way after leaving the marina - like not being able to get the sea doo running, but as soon as Brent got back there to fix it, he got it running right away. So there was a bit of a delay in getting the whole caravan out of the marina! Slowed the progress of the houseboat down (takes us a little longer because we don't go very fast), but once they got moving, we were all on the way!
Our usual beach was not accessible by the houseboat this year - water level was too low. So, the scouts found a HUGE open beach across the way. It ended up being an amazing beach & probably the best we have ever had. Only downfall was that it was a little more exposed than we like. But, it was big enough for us, and had great sand and water.
Not enjoying being stuck on the houseboat! He likes being in the ski boat! |

Still half sleep from last night! |
