Ahhhh....here we go again! My absolute most favorite time of the year!! Lake Mead, look out...the Durbins & friends are about to converge and invade your space!!!
This year we decided to break tradition and stay at the Rio the night before. We have been staying down the strip at the South Coast. It was more "on the way", had great trailer parking, cheap (and very nice) rooms, good Mexican restaurant, and most importantly an amazing tequila bar. They had the best happy hour deal in town...and I think it was taken advantage of (at least it was by our group once a year!!) because it had been shut down last year. The bar was still there, but the amazing happy hour deals were gone. Many a years we woke up the morning of launch not feeling too great. Guess it was a good thing that this little tradition has ended...I think too many tequila shots before the trip even starts is the sign of a rough trip...and by rough, I mean GOOD!
So, anyways, we switched it up to the Rio since most of us get free rooms there anyways, and they also have great trailer parking, and we get Harrah's points too. So we met up at the Rio for our "Welcome Dinner" and pre-Mead party. Mom and Dad got a suite, so we happy hour'd it up in there before dinner. We got our gift bags with our Mead shirts and cups. These are always so special! I love our goodie bags!!
Some of the crew couldn't join us and were just meeting us at the launch in the morning. So those of us that were there, had our group dinner at the American Grill. Wasn't as amazing at the tequila bar, but again, that is "probably" a good thing! ;)
