07.19.2014: Greg's Send-Off Party

Thelma decided she wanted to throw Greg a going-away party at her place today.  Kelly came out from Michigan to help load up Greg's stuff and they were driving up the next day.  Tonight, all the Phoenix Hearn's gathered for his final send-off!  Vince and I took all our "party-gear" over earlier in the week to setup and get ready for all the people.  Everyone brought some food (the menu being dictated by Thelma of course)!  We had Fried Chicken and all the fixings to go with it! It was such a fun night!!  Both Greg and Kelly were super appreciative of the party and all the fun! We are all sooooo so sad to see Greg go, but know he is going to be VERY happy up there.

07.15.2014: Hash House a Go-Go-Go-Go Home

Another great thing about having our closing ceremonies at the Rio is that we get to wake up to Hash-House breakfasts!!!  Well, technically this is the first year Hash House is at the Rio...so it is our first post-houseboat Hash House breakfast.  However it is never too early to start another houseboat tradition.   Especially one that revolves around food!

Hash House is one of my all-time gluttonous favorites.  Since I only really get to eat here like once a year, I go all out.  I was first introduced to it in San Diego -- Hillcrest to be exact.  Vegas though is where I found my groove and really found what was calling me.  Besides the Bacon Bloody Mary (which is more of an appetizer than a drink), I get the Andy's Sage Fried Chicken Benedict.  It is a giant piece of fried chicken served w/ fresh spinach, hardwood smoked bacon, market tomato, griddled mozzarella, mashed potatoes, biscuits, scrambled eggs....all covered in a savory chipotle cream sauce.  The sauce makes this dish.  I could drink a glass of it.  Oh, and it comes with a side of fruit to balance it all out....ie, piece of watermelon and a strawberry.

After breakfast, and very full bellies, it was time to hit the road and all go back to where we came from!! Another successful houseboat trip and amazing few days with family and friends!

07.14.2014: Closing Ceremonies & Awards Dinner

As tradition goes.....closing ceremonies and dinner at the Rio buffet!!! Not that we are hurting for food on the houseboat trip...AT ALL!  But we cannot wait to gorge ourselves at the buffet until we can't move anymore.  I think this is the only time where we can truly say that we get our money worth!  And we always get a private room (since Mom is "Diamond Club") so we can act a fool if we want to!  Or just be Durbins and have our own private place away from the people! Haha!

After dinner, we head to Mom & Dad's suite for the awards ceremony.  Mom is always great and makes sure that everyone "wins"....well, almost everyone! Haha! Sometimes it is a little favored!
