12.01.2013: Final Dinner at Azul Beach

So, on our last night, Vince, Drake and I met up with Mom & Dad at the outdoor beachside bar for some drinks and a plan.  We were going to the regular restaurant for an earlier dinner because we had some items we needed to try and then planned to hit the Mexican restaurant for a second dinner later.  Early dinner was nice...got a bunch of dishes and we were basically the only ones in there.  It was so good.  We tried to pace ourselves, but we over-ate.  Even knowing we had another dinner planned for later, we couldn't help it.  So we filled up...then Vince took Drake over to Thelma's room to crash on the couch while we went to the bar for a while.

So we had a few drinks at the outside bar overlooking the ocean while waiting for our belly's to go down.  The Mexican restaurant said it closed at 11pm, so we were waiting as long as possible to fully enjoy it.  We decided to head over about 10ish...and when we got there, they said they were CLOSED?!  What?!!  Yes, it really was closed. I couldn't believe it.  It was the only place we still needed to try...and it was CLOSED?! ARGH.  So unfair.  Not that we were hungry AT ALL...since we had eaten quite a few times already today...but still.  We hadn't tried it yet! :)

So, we went back to the bar for some more drinks, and then called it a night.  Vince and I sat in one of the cabanas for a while, watching the waves and the ocean. Truly enjoying our last evening at the beach.  It had been a wonderful trip and this was our first completely alone down time in absolute solitude.  It was wonderful.  Bittersweet too....such an amazing trip, and so sad to see it come to an end.

OK, this is our final night confession!!  Amnesty Night!!!
Every single night, Vince and I ordered room service in our room, no matter what time of the night it was.  And by room service, I mean like 5 different dishes, and dessert. Hey, it was all-inclusive right?  We felt like we needed to somehow get our monies worth!  And I feel like we really really did!  And some of the room service items were pretty good!  Our favs turned out to be:  Chicken Fingers (with mayo spread on them - for me - yes weird, I know, but it was just sooo good), chicken 4-cheese quesadilla, nachos, bacon wrapped hot dogs with cheese dip on the side, and coconut ice cream to finish it off.  All super healthy!  Yes, yes, we were glutens!!
