10.26.2016: Grunstadt: Markets, Cafes, and a Church

My next stop was a small town across the freeway called Grunstadt.  This is actually a bigger-ish town for the area and hosts lots of festivals and wine events thru the year.  Of course, nothing going on this random Wednesday morning! I found the town center by following the steeple of the church.

*The first thing we learned in Germany was that there was a rule/law that the town center, and tallest building in town, is the church.  We definitely found this to be true as we hit lots of small towns over the past few days.  Good rule, and good to know when you are wandering map-less and GPS-less in a strange country! I always found the town center first, then worked my way out from there.*

Back to my cutesy little town.  I parked near the church and walked to the town center, which was setup to be an indoor/outdoor market with lots of little shops and cafes.  The shops were closed, but the cafes were open.  I stopped at one and got some coffee and a pastry and walked around and saw as much as I could see.  No one here that I met spoke English either, but I was able to figure it out for the most part.  Someone tried to be friends, but we didn't get very far, so we just exchanged pleasantries and went on our way.  Although the language barrier was big here too (as in my last stop), everyone was friendly and I didn't feel so out of place.

The market/mall I walked around in - even tho most of the shops weren't open yet.
