10.24.2016: Free Day - Head West!

Today was sort of a free day for us.  Vince didn't have a meeting until tomorrow, so we planned to drive west towards Lake Constance and the border of Switzerland.  We were headed for a few small towns that I had researched my Riedman ancestors were from and I wanted to go check them out.  This was our only chance to check out this side of the country as well so we decided to make a day of the adventure and head out!

We got the hang of the roads really well.  Of course, Vince had lived here before about 30 yrs ago, so he had some recollection of the areas and getting around.

Getting out of the city was an adventure all in its own! We kept missing the exit, as it always was going down some tunnel, on the wrong side of the street that just didn't seem like it would dump us out in the right spot.  MapQuest was a little confused as well...so it was interesting!  But once we made it out of central Munich, it was a breeze.

Driving the Autobahn was amazing.  Love the speed limits and the rules of the road there! Americans know nothing about real driving haha!

The farmlands along the way were gorgeous!  I was so drawn to the countryside it wasn't even funny.  It truly felt like "home" even though I'd never been there, nor grown up anywhere close to this topography.

First destination - Taldorf

This word means "Exit" in German so they were everywhere - but we thought it was hilarious.
