Christmas Day, we were headed to Lex & Christina's for the day. We needed to get there early to get the turkey in the roaster, so we left Riverside about 8am. We stopped by Starbucks on our way, since it is kinda a tradition, even when everyone is there. Seems like we started it years ago, since Sbucks is the only thing open on Christmas Day! It used to be the only coffee I would drink (mochas), so Vince would go do a Sbucks run on Christmas morning for us all. So, we needed to keep the tradition alive, even though it was just us.
So, made it to the house with all the goods. I stayed up late last night making Thelma's stuffing (or dressing, depending on who you ask). It takes forever because of all the steps to it, and I waited until after dinner...so I was up until after midnight cooking, and waiting for Santa to show up.
Back to Christmas Day....we got there and everyone was still getting ready, and people were crowded in the kitchen getting their prep on. Darien had the honor of sewing up the turkey butt after it was stuffed. He is going to make a great surgeon one day! Of course Lex provided only the finest tools, and gloves to get the job done.
Vince left about an hour later to go pick up Drake from the airport. I stayed at the house to help finish cooking and prepping stuff. And by prepping stuff, I mean drinking plenty of mimosas. Plenty.
Sarah took the kids to the park for a while, the adults kept getting ready and hanging out talking. After everything was in the oven and we were just waiting for it all to get done, we took some group pics and let the kiddos open all their gifts.
