So, on our way back down the mountain, we HAD to take advantage of it being "happy hour" and some of the wine tasting rooms still being open. One of our favs, St. Supery, was on the way, and we did NOT hesitate to stop in! We met a really cool guy who was doing the tasting, and gave us some "extra pours". We ended up buying some Merlot...YES, Merlot! It was soooo not a regular Merlot. It was delicious, and we needed an extra bottle of it. We got a few others as well, just because we were there. Great stop, and so glad we did!
We also stopped off at Sterling Vineyards...but didn't do any wine tasting. We just loved the views. That will be a definite return trip though. There is a gondola that takes you to the top of this mountain, where the wine tasting takes place. So pretty!!! But we were done, and the wine room was closing. Next time....
After wine tasting, we went back to our room to change and get ready for an amazing dinner. We started at the "Wine Cave" that was right there in the resort. We did some tastings there, but it was nothing spectacular. The wine rooms we snuck into were more exciting!
We took the shuttle over to downtown Napa for dinner. We decided on the "Pearl"...which was a semi-comfort food kinda place. It was ridiculous! Sooooo good!! We hoped to sit outside along the Riverwalk area...but it was cold. (Nice, but too cold for dinner!) So we sat inside, enjoyed our meal...and made friends! After dinner, we walked along the boardwalk & enjoyed the moon...and got to check out downtown. It was gorgeous....and very memorable! The shuttle thing is the way to go.... Took the shuttle back to the hotel and ended up back in the hotel bar with our fav bartender! Again, making friends!! Spent all night in there...shut the place down. Good times....
