We got up early and started our drive back up the coast. It is such a gorgeous drive that we wanted to be able to take our time and also make as many stops as we wanted. We knew we wanted to stop in Paso Robles for lunch and try some of their local wines, and we wanted to stop in Monterey at our favorite winery there, Bernardus.
We made a pit stop at a cute little beach that we had been to before, the last time we headed up to Monterey for Alan & Annette's wedding. We didn't remember it until we were actually there and both realized that we had been there before! And I had even been there once before!
Next stop was Paso Robles. Neither of us had been there before so it was a fun adventure checking out the downtown area. It was close to lunchtime so we stopped and walked around looking for the "right place" for lunch. We picked Roberts Restaurant and Wine Bar. It was delicious and also had some pretty amazing wine! After we fueled up, we hit the road again.
Next stop - Carmel Valley/Monterey and Bernardus Winery! We were so excited to be going back here again. We had our first visit with Alan & Annette when we went wine tasting before their wedding. We LOVED it and have been fans ever since. We could not be driving up the coast and not drop in for a quick taste. It was a little out of the way, but we were SO CLOSE! Glad we did!! Had some great tastings and bought a case to save for later.
On the road again.....to our destination in Napa!! Sooo excited to get there!!!
