So, at the scene of the second biggest fireworks show in the entire USA, we had some major issues!! As some of us were sitting in place on our beach-front property that Vince got up at 3am to secure, others were still back at the room cleaning up from dinner (Vince). The show started as scheduled, however it seemed to start with a BANG. There was the biggest start of any fireworks show that I'd ever seen going on. It was amazing and beautiful and overwhelming!! It looked like all of SD was on fire!! While amazing, it was actually scary! We all enjoyed it cheering like crazy for a whole 15 secs...then it just stopped. We were waiting for the next round...and it never came. Vince missed what he thought was the pre-show, and therefore missed the whole show! I felt SO BAD! Everyone sat around for about 45 mins.....waiting for the show to go on....only to find out that it wasn't coming...and that explosion of color and light earlier WAS the show. I have never seen so many mad, disappointed, crying kiddos, irritated & crabby parents, etc. It was ridiculous. I wanted to cry myself but was so tired, I just wanted to go to bed. Poor Vince spent all day trying to make it perfect for everyone, and he was the only one that missed the actual explosion!
So, later that night I was watching the news and found out that the 6 shows that are synchronized to all go off at the same time...all did...and they did all at once. There was some computer glitch in the timing, and all the fireworks were setoff at once. Since everything is all computerized these days, once it started, you couldn't have stopped it if you wanted to in those 15 seconds. Well, needless to say, we made WORLD news that night! Good job San Diego.
Obviously this was before we found out about the debacle!
Waiting for more fireworks....
Yes, Justice was crying....he knew what we just missed.
A glimpse of the 15 second show:
