Well, it is officially our last night in Germany, and I am beyond depressed. Not to mention after going thru the emotional roller coaster that is Dachau. It truly pulled at my heart and effected me much more than I ever imagined.
Once we got back to Munich, we decided to hit the town and have our final German meal. We had been wanting to try Augustiner Brewery since we got here, so seemed like the perfect spot. It was still fairly early so we didn't have to wait for a table. It is still strange to me though, as no one actually gets their own table at restaurants in Europe. You share tables! So we pulled up to a high top with a group of guys that looked like there were there for happy hour after work...and didn't really speak English. This is kinda a local spot, so we felt a tab bit out of sorts, but that was ok. This is how we prefer to travel!
So we ordered our giant gallons of beer and some food. Since it was our last German meal, we definitely needed some schnitzel and spätzle. I love both and am going to miss having the real deal!! We hung out in this lively little place for a while before deciding to TRY to go to the Farmers Market AGAIN. I have tried 3 times on this trip and its been closed every single time! So...4th time's a charm, right?
YES. Finally, it was open! And am sooooo glad we went back and walked it. It was gorgeous! I could have hung out here every night (if I knew what their hours were!!). We walked around all the little shops and open markets selling their produce and spices and treats. I wanted to buy everything. Everything looked amazing to me.
We finally stumbled on a couple little bars that were selling Gluewine out the side door (to go)...so we got some. We were sitting on a bench under a tree people watching when a man walked up to us and introduced himself. He was a pilot for Lufthansa Airlines, originally from Dubai, and was there on a layover. We ended up spending over an hour there making friends with him and exchanging stories. Such a great treat to hang out with someone new while enjoying the local market.
We truly felt like we fit right in by now and could probably live here!
