Vince's Uncle Ira (Thelma's brother) passed away last week down in Tucson. He had been battling stomach cancer for the past few years, and it eventually won. Ira was a wonderful man who I had gotten to know over these past few years. He was kind and always warm and welcoming. Luckily, Thelma was able to be there when he passed. He had been calling for her, so she went down to visit, and he passed while she was praying over him. Thelma & Ira were always very close to each other, so it was amazing that she was able to be there for him at that moment.
Most all of the Phoenix Hearns all went down to Tucson for the funeral, and Charles even flew out for it. It was just a day trip for us...down & back in the same day. We had Drake for the day, but took him over to Karissa's so he could hang out with the girls all day. He appreciated not having to go to the funeral, and gave him a good chance to hang with his cousins. Although when we picked him up he was beyond exhausted. He said "I don't know how Karissa does it everyday"....he was wore out!!!! Those girls are busy, busy, busy!!! At one point he asked Karissa if he could take a nap :) Kinda funny!!
When we got back to Phoenix to go pick them up...they were at the rock climbing wall in Eric & Karissa's community center. Kids were having a blast! So we hung out there for a while. It was nice visiting, if only for a bit! Needless to say, Drake was asleep before we hit the freeway :)
