10.16.2010: Aspen Campground -- Day 2

Day 2 of the camping adventure started out very very cold. Brent got up early to start the fire so we had somewhere warm to go as we rolled out of our tents. Started the morning off with some great breakfast (Gallo pinto and eggs), coffee and hot cocoa for the kiddos. We spent the early morning just hanging around camp and enjoying the relaxation. The kids had been wanting to go fishing....so we started packing up to head to the lake!

We got a good spot not too far down the shoreline...there were a lot of people there by the time we got there...and more coming! We saw lots of fish jumping, but didn't have much luck with the actual fish. Rumor has it that record trout have been caught in this lake....and there were a lot of fishermen that heard the same....as it was busy! We didn't so much as get a bite...but we had a blast being out there! As we left, we saw someone bringing in a HUGE brown trout about 2 feet long....almost made the record! It was awesome!!
Andrew was ready for the big one....

Nana was just busy being cute!!
So, after the kids got tired of not catching any fish...they moved on to the crawfish. They were catching HUGE crawfish! The thought of keeping them and boiling them for dinner was a nice thought....but we ended up throwing them out...no one wanted the task of actually doing it! So Andrew just pretended :)

Crawfish fishing poles....
Kenny....packing guns & Cash...
Little Huck Finn :) He was so cute being all patient waiting for a bite
Vince fishing for trout...Piggy fishing for crawfish

Bald eagles doing a fly-by! So cool!
Kaizen channeling her wild dog side...jumped in the freezing cold lake! Or she was trying to off herself and get this camping thing over with! Haha...she looked crazy after she jumped in.

Alisa was done...too much photog earlier!

Brent was on the hunt for his perfect supply of firewood. He was scoping out trees to cut down..illegally of course! No, he was really just finding dead ones and cutting them up. Between him & Andrew's face...looked like there was some mischief going on there though.
Boys runnign back & forth on the sleeping log
The amazing fire....
Andrew & his bike...
The kids wanted to do a little impromtu photo shoot. I ask for one picture and it turned into "how about this way", or "lets take a picture like this"....so here in follows some from our photo-shoot! Who said these 3 are photo-shy??!
Nana telling the boys how and when to jump...this one we did many times!
They were hiding in the bushes....
