This is the view from the road to Denver, back up the mountain to Estes Park. Pretty!! And most people that haven't been, don't know that Denver and the surrounding communities are actually in a very flat, midwest looking area of Colorado. You basically have to drive an hour in any direction to get to mountain, pinetree looking areas that you imagine when you think of CO!! My first time here I was amazed....so had to take a pic for the others that don't believe me.
Mixing work with pleasure....Vince and I started a new contract in Denver at the Fort Logan National Cemetery on the following Monday....so we went to the site to meet the people there. Friday afternoon we had a quick meeting at the cemetery before checking into our next stop of our anniversary weekend.
Fort Logan National Cemetery...
The second biggest and most visited national cemetery besides Arlington National in DC. Even the victims of the Columbine Shooting are buried here.
We did happy hour at the Prime Bar...where we had some great champagne from New Mexico (that was amazing....surprise, surprise)...as well as my new favorite appetizer that I make almost weekly at home! After happy hour outside on the patio...we took off and walked the 16th Street mall for a few blocks. We ended up back at Prime Bar for a light dinner before headed back to our room for a much needed night of sleep!!! (Considering the lack of sleep we got in our haunted hotel the night previous!)
