05.09.2015: Bring on the Disney

Saturday morning we got ready to head to Disney to pick up our race packets and check out the expo....or what was left of it anyways.  First, trying to get to Disney on a Saturday morning was ridiculous in itself.  It still amazes me how many people visit these 2 parks every day.

Anyways, we parked in one of the park lots and walked over to the Disneyland Hotel convention center, which is where the expo was.  Packet pickup was pretty smooth...probably because most of the crowd was there on opening day.  The packet was very empty, and altho the expo was a little crowded, it wasn't too bad at all.  It was more ridiculous finding parking than anything else! ALL of the run merchandise was sold out, and they just had regular Disney stuff in there. Everything actually sold out within the first few hours.  Ebay-ers come buy it all up and sell it online for 10x's the cost.  It is kinda ridiculous, and really pissed off a lot of actual runners that were there for legit reasons.  It was fine though since I wasn't really looking to buy anything.  Couldn't get my standard pint glass though (don't know if they even had them!?).  Oh well...

So we just walked around a bit, then decided we had enough of the Disney experience for the day.  Time to head to the beach to check out the Pacific .. and get some much needed food!!!  We made our way to Newport Beach since that is where I most familiar.  We cruised around and decided on American Junkie. (Kinda funny because their other location is in Tempe haha!)    We just missed brunch by a few minutes, which would have been nice (bottomless mimosas and bloody marys).  There were a few stragglers left finishing up, and you could tell they had prob been there since it opened.  We had some drinks and ate DELISH giant burgers, and people watched!  It is on the bayside off Newport Blvd and there were lots of yachts getting ready to go cruise .. got to see how the other half lives!

After lunch we stopped by Christina & Lex's place up the road in Huntington to say hi.  Vince was there for the day & night hanging out with them while we did our thing.  We hung out there for a bit, had a glass of wine with them...then the 3 of us headed back to Riverside for dinner, and hopefully to retire early!
