05.10.2010: Drake's Football Game #5

Tonight was Drake's only night game of the season. It was a makeup game that they scheduled since they started the season 2 weeks late. It was kinda nice having a night game though and the kids really enjoyed it! Vince's mom even came out to the game with us!

Drake was amazing on defense this game....lots of solo tackles in the open field. He had a TD run as well with his tightend reverse play....as well as an extra point play.

05.08.2010: Swim & Dinner w/ the Family

After Drake's game, Mom & Dad and the kids...and Brent & Alisa and Kenny all came over to our house for swimming, dinner and fun. We hung out, ate and got to visit with each other. It was so cute because Vince and Drake were laying on the floor...and Brianna saw them...and quietly just went and wedged herself there in between them. Neither of them seemed to mind! So cute!! :)

We also took some casual little family pics. We don't really have any...and Mom wanted some of the group of us together....so we just went out in the complex by the pond and took a few fun shots. Nice to have everyone together again!!! I love my family! :)

05.08.2010: Drake's Football Game #4

Game 4 of Drake's first tackle football season was a good one! A few milestones today...

First - We had a cheering section...Mom & Dad...and Andrew & Brianna came to watch the game today. Whoohoo...Drake's first guests of the game...besides us & his Mom.

Second - It was Drake's first catch...period...and first catch of the team as well. We didn't have many passing plays that they practiced. However, this was one...and Drake caught it!!! AND just happened to run for a touchdown!!! YEAH! First passing TD of the season for Drake....and for the Longhorns!!

Third - He had his longest TD run so far this season. Probably 20-30 yards or so. This was GREAT since most of the time they ran his offensive play was when they were closer to the goal line.

S0, all in all....great game for Drake!! A couple TD's....some great fans....and some great tackles on defense!

05.06.2010: The Obsession......

My obsession.....the elusive Starbucks cup!
For the past year, I have been on the lookout for this priceless Starbucks cup....double insulated, take home, plastic, refillable....Sbucks logo. What could be better?? First introduced to this beauty by Christina last year...who got one for herself...but not me :( I don't hold it against her though, because who knew that it would become obsolete for the next 6 months. Turns out this hot baby was flying off the shelves, and Sbucks only released a limited amount of them. Sbucks employees stopped putting them out on the shelves and hording them for themselves. They were selling for $70 on ebay...then could not be found...even on ebay for MONTHS!

So, Vince and I were in Vegas for work....walking by the Starbucks at the Rio...and low and behold...there is the treasure sitting there on the shelf staring right at me!!! I stopped in my tracks and bought the only 2 there!! I went back after dinner and asked for more that may be hidden in the back...and bought 3 more. Whooohoooo! Should have sold these puppies on ebay for some cash, but instead gave them to the other wonderful ladies in our lives that we know would treasure them more than anything...well, ok, that might be extreme.....but it is close!

Anyways, everything you drink out of this cup tastes better...I drink more water now in a day than I would in a week out of one of those substandard non-Starbucks cups. I only wish I had pretty ice...my ice is too white...I need pretty Sbucks ice...then it would be PERFECT. Alisa even had the great idea to drink our wine out of it....not that most of our wine needs any help in the taste department, but hmmmm...it is a thought!! :)

05.02.2010: Hearn Day In Tucson

On Sunday, Vince's uncle was celebrating his birthday in Tucson. Well, technically he didn't know he was because his wife planned a surprise party for him. So, all the Phoenix Hearns drove down for the day to surprise Uncle Edward (the man on the far right in the first pics below) and celebrate his 70th birthday! Needless to say, he was definitely surprised and so appreciated everyone taking the time to come down. It was a such a nice day and good to spend the day with Vince's uncles & family. The man in the white shirt is Uncle Ira. Both are Thelma's brothers...who Vince has always been very close to.

We surprised him by showing up at his church Sunday morning...which was a real shock to him...then all went back to his house for lunch...which again was a surprise...as he worried the whole way home about how to feed all of us! Luckily he has wonderful kids and a wonderful wife who had the day planned! :) Food was amazing and was fun getting to know Vince's cousins who I hadnt yet met.

He got some fun gifts from Thelma (his sister) and Ira (his brother). His "special cocktail" he is known for is a green tea & Pepsi combo. So they got him some of that, as well as a cocktail/martini shaker with his recipe on it :)

And I had to take some pics of Shay (Eric - Vince's nephew, and Karissa - Eric's wife) youngest daughter...she is GORGEOUS!!! She has tough competition with her older sister Makenna though who is GOREGOUS in her own right!! :)

05.01.2010: Drake's Football Game #3

Drake's 3rd game was waaaaaaaay out in Surprise...which is a hike from our house!!! Didn't help that it was extremely windy that day & we had a few little dust storms kick up on us. Boys didn't seem to mind though! Again they did great....they won...by a LOT!! Drake had some great tackles....and scored on the extra point after the TD. See video at the bottom...press the arrow to play. Drake asked me again "Is that recorded in fast forward??" Uh, nope you are really that fast compared to the other guys!!

04.25.2010: Las Vegas Weekend

After Drake's game on Sat, Vince and I drove up to Las Vegas to meet Mom & Dad there. They had been there since Fri....but waited for us for the real fun! :) Sat, we went over to Palazzo after we checked in at the Rio. Gambled, racked up some player-player points....and in general had a great time doing Vegas like we do!

Sunday, we hung out at the pool most of the day just relaxing. In the evening, we went to dinner, then went to the Human Nature show at the Imperial Palace. Human Nature is a group of 4 white guys...from Australia...that sing Motown. They were AWESOME! It was a GREAT show!! We had such a good time!! And Mom got a special treat because the camera lady thought that her & I were sisters.....haha!!! She could not believe that Mom & Dad were my parents! Guess I am looking old these days ;)...haha!! So, we had to buy the pic!! Spent the rest of the night walking the strip....another great Vegas trip!!!! :)

04.24.2010: Drake's Football Game #2

Drake's second game was played over at the practice fields by the University of Phoenix Stadium (ie...Cardinals Stadium). I think being so close to the stadium inspired the kids to play that much better. They played one of the better teams in the league...and beat them! It was a GREAT game!!! Drake had a touchdown....see the series of pics including the handoff...didn't get the TD since all the kids were blocking the pic. He also had some great tackles....see the second series of pics...where he took down the biggest guy on their team....who also ended up injuring one of our players (the smallest guy) and giving him a concussion. Glad Drake got to squash him...he got up slowly. ;) Otherwise it was a great game!!! Kids did amazing!! :)

04.17.2010: Drake's First Tackle Football Game

Today was Drake's first tackel football game. He was soooo excited and soooo nervous!! He did really well though. Takes a while to get used to the chaos on the field, but by the end of the game, he started to get his berrings and figure out what was going on! He plays tightend on offense, and either D-line or safety on defense. The team lost, but did so well for their first game. You could tell the other team had been playing together for a while...and it was HOT out! Hard for those little (and big) guys in all those pads. Just the beginning.....

04.11.2010: Champagne Brunch Cruise in San Diego Bay

Sunday morning a BIG group of us went on a champagne brunch cruise in San Diego harbor. It was so nice and soooo much fun! Delicious food...and endless champagne!! The group: Mom & Dad..Brent, Alisa, Andrew, Brianna...Bill, Gina & Chris...Brad & Leonor...Jason & Kerry...Scott, Amanda, Riley....I think that was it. I have a copy of a group pic, but cannot upload it for some reason :(

It was cool & windy....very overcast...so we didn't stay up top very long. It was chilly for the kids! But it was a great 2 hour cruise that went around the harbor & pointed out all the hot spots along the way. Very enjoyable....even for someone that lives in San Diego....even better for a tourist though! Highly recommend!! It was a great time....and thanks to Mom for organizing the event!!!
