04.25.2015: Pat's Run After Party

Andrew had a football game right after the race, so half the crew went to that, while we went to drop off Drake and shower and change. We reconvened back at Brent & Alisa's for some dinner and drinks!  We were in serious need of some post-race carbs!   After dinner, the girls still had a TON of energy. They put on a little show for us while we chilled on the couch.  They have a whole dance routine that Nana made up to the song "Uptown Funk".  It is HILARIOUS!!!  We laughed so, so hard!

04.25.2015: Annual Pat Tillman Run

Today we had our annual Pat Tillman run that we have been doing as a family the past few years.  It is only a 4.2 mile run, through Tempe and South Scottsdale, but it is tons of fun!  There are about 10 billion people that participate in it now (well, ok, there are 30,000 people that ran this year...but it felt like billions!).  For some reason this year seemed extra crowded on the course.  We all started out together.  I hung with Mom & Brianna for the first mile, then Mom hung back to wait for Alisa and Avery to catch up.  The strollers had to start behind us.  Nana wanted to keep running so her & I took off.  Not too long later, Alisa caught up to us...and left Avery and the stroller with Mom. The guys were all running together either in front, or behind us...we couldn't really tell since we got separated at the start.  After a while we passed up Vince and Drake....and Vince hung back with Drake and Nana, as they were ready to walk for a while.  Alisa and I took off running.  Brent and Andrew were at the finish to high-5 us as we came across then we waited to take pics of the rest of the crew finishing.  Dad finished with Brent & Andrew just ahead of Alisa and I...but we didn't see him until later.  It is kinda chaotic finding each other at the finish!

So fun though!!  As always, it is a great tradition that we do together.  Great support for the Tillman Foundation, and a good reminder of the sacrifices that our military members make for our freedoms.

04.17.2015: Last Day with Kaizen

Today was a sad day in our house.  Last night we were sitting on the patio having dinner and some neighbors came over to chat.  Kaizen came out and jumped up on the wall to give her customary greeting and say hi.  One of the ladies came over to pet her and all of a sudden Kaizen leaped and bit her in the face. It was so scary and strange!  I was in SHOCK.  She has never done that before.  She was wagging her tail, up on the wall (by choice), sending mixed signals...and bit someone!  The lady was super nice about it, and knew she shouldn't have got in Kaizen's face, but still.  That could have gone so much worse.  So, this afternoon, Vince took her away.  These pics were a few minutes before she left.  I think she knew...she was super clingy and hung tight to me.  I feel so bad for her...and have been crying all day.  Love this dog so much, but we had no choice.

04.04.2015: Live Jazz in AZ?!

Yes folks, you read that right.  Live Jazz in AZ! Brian and Thereisa invited us out with them to go to The Nash in downtown Phoenix.  We have driven by it many times, but never been in.  Always intrigued though!  Being we never go out downtown, we don't even consider dropping in sometime.  Anyways, Brian got tickets and asked us to go.  It is a small non-profit club that brings in both local and out of town jazz acts.  It is a BYOB place so you can bring in your own food & alcohol.  They only charge a $5 corking fee for the wine, which is amazing!

We decided to meet at a restaurant downtown off Central - Switch.  It was amazing.  I had the lobster, crab and shrimp crepes.  Wow!!  So good!  Everything looked so good on the menu, and I can't wait to go back again.

After dinner we headed down to the Nash, got our seats, opened our wine and enjoyed an AMAZING show!  It was exciting, and good, and entertaining.  I cannot wait to go here again!  I highly recommend it!

Brian brought an ascot for his wine!  Ours didn't come with clothes tho, so I didn't take a pic of it!

04.04.2015: A Big Win

It was a scorcher today! 1pm games are no joke.  We had 3 pop up tents though, so that was good...but it was still hot.  Only going to get worse!!

The boys played really well though.  They took an early lead with a TD on the opening drive, then a pick-6, then another TD running back the next kickoff.  Good way to start the game.  It was a good win for the boys, as they can always use a confidence boost!  Some of these teams are huge...so this was a good matchup!

04.04.2015: Just a Little 8 Mile jog

Alisa and I have been training for this half marathon at Disney in a few weeks.  I had been doing great with my training program, but recently fell off the wagon and got highly unmotivated.  I have been struggling with just getting through 3-4 miles, let alone getting in my long runs.  I did a 6-miler a while back, but nothing since. I decided today that I needed to get 8 in...even if I had to walk it, just to get my body used to the mileage.  So, off I went....and kept going, and going.  I ended up running the whole thing, and it felt amazing.  Oh, well I did stop at the other end of the lake to take a pic of this cute little family that started following me and quacking at me.  They were sooo cute!!
