Mom and Dad really wanted the kids to ski this year, so they got them all the gear and some lessons for the day. Brent & Dad also skied....I really wanted to, but I also really wanted to take pics and video of the kids too. So my photog duties won out. I am glad I did because it was a lot of fun watching them. They did amazing and had a great first day. Hopefully they will remember forever.
It was actually pretty warm out, but the snow was decent thanks to the snow making machines on the mountain now. The lesson groups were pretty crowded (prob because it was a holiday weekend), but they didn't seem to mind. They were ready for all weather. It actually got chilly for us later when they wind picked up...but it was ok too. It was more fun watching the kids than worrying about being cold. Also, we dipped into the lodge for some bloody marys to warm us from the inside out!
Brent & Dad hit the slopes together & would come check on us once in a while. They also met us all for lunch in the lodge/cafeteria. It was no where near the Mammoth scale we were used to, but it wasn't too bad. Definitely would do it again!!
Back to the kiddos....they really enjoyed their lessons...but Nana was done a little early due to a stomach ache. I think she was just "done" either way! It had been a super long day for them already. They boys finished out the day with their lessons, and when they were done, Brent and Dad took them on the ski lift to go on the big bunny hill. Drake was tired of snowplowing and just decided to go down straight, kamikaze style! He screamed most of the way down, as we were yelling at him to just fall, and then he fell. When he got back to us, he said he was scared for his life! It is a pretty amazing and exhilarating feeling going that fast on skis down the slopes! Too funny for him!! After that, he was done too! He was in a little bit of shock and decided maybe he wasn't as ready as he thought he was for the rest of the mountain!
Everyone is going to be sore tomorrow!! The moans & groans were starting as we walked back to the cars :)
