05.22.2014: The Happiest Place on Earth

For Avery's birthday we all went to Disneyland for the day. Actually today is Brent's official birthday....and he was in LA working for the day. So bummed he didn't get to spend the day with us at the happiest place on earth! I know he really wished he could be here...but work is work...and he had to go do it!

We got to the park fairly early, about right when it opened. We started off by heading over to TomorrowLand to get on some of the bigger rides, namely Space Mountain. We started off by going on Buzz Lightyear, which is kinda fun for the kiddos. Scared Avery a little bit...think all the darkness and neon lights and the large fake people were a little weird. But she toughed it out and was good with shooting them!

When we rolled up on Space Mtn a few minutes later, it was actually closed. And as we were standing there discussing which ride to go on instead, it opened up...we RAN to the front and literally ran through the ENTIRE line and got to the front with no wait. It was amazing. LOVE that ride!! The kids had a blast!

Next, how can you NOT go on Captain EO?! Michael Jackson...really!? Of course! So we did that next,....a little 3D movie for everyone. The kids all liked it. Avery sat in my lap and was somewhat scared most of it...the scary witch & all. Although she did turn into a pretty princess, so it was all good by the end. However, I am sure some of those characters will be recurring visitors in her nightmares for a while! All good though!

After that we made our way around the park...hitting all the most important rides. We even ALL went on the haunted house and Pirates. Not sure that ANY of the kids liked the haunted house though. Poor kiddos!! Again, gonna have nightmares! Oh well...

It was getting late and the park was actually closing so that they could reopen it for the grad night high school kids a little later. So we made our way back towards the exit...and the kids INSISTED on going on the bumper cars!! Soooo, we went back that way to do one LAST ride! On the way out, we HAD to get our churros...lots of churros!!! When we went to give Avery her's she had a breakdown. She didn't want a churro, she wanted DINNER!!! Haha! Poor thing, no we hadn't eaten dinner. We had not planned to stay that late, so were going to eat after we left or go meet Brent somewhere. So she was starved, and amazingly turned down a churros in defiance! It was hilarious...and we were laughing at her, which just made her more mad. Once she finally took a bite of the churro, she ended up devouring it...probably knowing that might be all she gets tonight!

As we made our way out of the park, Avery crashed hard on Dad's shoulder. The boys were both asking to be carried, and I think Nana took over the stroller! Long, long day!! Brent ended up heading straight home because he was beat. We picked up some Albertos on our way in and ate in exhausted silence before we drug ourselves to bed!!! So much fun but man, Disney really wears you out!!!
