10.24.2012: Drake's Honor Roll Ceremony

For the first semester in 4th grade, Drake made the Honor Roll!!  4th grade is the first grade that they grade on A & B scale.....hence the first opportunity to be able to be on the Honor Roll.  Drake was pretty excited about it and we were super proud of him!

10.19.2012: Big Bear Daytrip

So Vince and I had stayed in CA this week to help out with Gramma & Papa duty during the week.  On Friday, I had the day off so decided to take Vince on a day trip!  There is so much of CA that he has never seen before, so thought it would be fun to make little daytrips when we had the opportunity to do so.  So, it being fall and all, I thought Big Bear would be a fun little getaway for the day.  The trees were changing colors, and the temp was perfect.....and Vince had never been there before!  It was gorgeous up there!!!!  The leaves were so amazing!!!  It was a beautiful day too.  We drove around the lake a little, then went to the downtown area where we walked around the little shops and restaurants.  We found a super cute place for lunch and had some wine & an amazing lunch!

After lunch we drove around a little more and then went over to Lake Arrowhead.  I love the little Dutch looking village by the lake there with the shops and the restaurants. We did a little shopping and lots of walking!  There was a cute wine bar that we REALLY wanted to try out...but knew we needed to get back down the hill before the traffic hit so we got moving. It was such a great day up there though!!!  We really lucked out on the amazing weather and foliage.  Vince was impressed with how close of a great escape we had to our little Riverside :)

10.15.2012: Monday Night Football - Broncos vs Chargers

Monday Night Football my favorite!!!!  We got to join Mom & Dad and the Charger crew for the Chargers vs Broncos game tonight.  We were extra excited for the game because we all kinda really like Peyton in general, and don't necessarily hate the Broncos....and it's such a GREAT classic rivalry game.  Love these games!!  Unfortunately, the Chargers couldn't pull it off and ended up losing.  Well, not just losing, but actually making history in doing it.  We let a 24 point lead at halftime slip away and the Broncos came back and killed it.  Chargers fell asleep at the half and basically didn't even return to the field....at least that was how they played.  Pretty frustrating second half and ending there.  It was one of those "Why do we waste our money and come to these games?!" kinda games.  Lots of VERY unhappy fans in the parking lot afterward, and made for a long, long ride home!!  I didn't realize it at the time, but seems like I took a lot of pics of Peyton haha!  Guess sometimes its more of a treat to see some other teams' stars once in a while since we see the Charger players all the time.  Guess we kinda take it for granted now.

 Ribs for tailgating!!!

Remembering that lasy hit from the Chargers D

At halftime, Phil Michelson was doing a golf shot for charity.  He basically had to shoot a 100yard hole in one.  I think he got 3 shots....and he missed them all.  Oh well, Phil.  It was good seeing ya anyways!

10.06.2012: Campsite Fun

After we got back to the campsite, we got busy with our next events.  Mom, Alisa, Andrew and Brianna played some Charger cornhole.  Drake whittled a stick.  Dad & Vince took naps in their hammocks.  The rest of us kinda just sat around.

Our trip got called a little short when Mom got a call from Shelly saying Papa was going to the hospital because he wasn't doing too well.  So, we packed it all up and Mom, Dad and Scott drove back to Riverside....and we headed back to the valley  (Papa ended up coming out ok, and all was well).   Even though it was a short camping trip, we still had a great time and it was a nice break from the chaos of the city!

10.06.2012: Huntin' and Shootin' and Forest Walks

So since this is state land or whatever, it's not quite legal to shoot (or hunt) on it.  ie...no discharging of firearms.  However, we only follow some rules, not all of them.  So we went for a little forest walk waaaaay out of the campground and into the wilderness so the kids could shoot their BB guns.

 Collecting pinecones

This was the only real huntin' that went on today.  Kaizen saw a squirrel and chased it all over the forest and up this tree....WAY up this tree!!  Then she sat at the bottom of the tree waiting for it to come back down. So maybe not hunting...but more like tracking her prey.  Anyways, it kept her entertained while the kiddos were shootin'
