Started the weekend off by getting there Fri night...meeting up with Mom and Dad at Cesears Palace...staying in our comped (FREE) suites. We always get our first Long Island iced tea as soon as we get there...to take the edge off the long drive. I swear if they sold drinks at check-in, they'd make great money! Anyways...we seemed to amuse ourselves until Kent and Tammy got there a bit later. We made our way down to Planet Hollywood...where the new Cabo Wabo cantina was having its grand opening. This of course means celebrity spotting too! Dad worked his magic and bribed the bouncer to let us in to the overcrowded canitna. Sammy Haggar was playing on stage....with none other than Kenny Chesney. Are you kidding me!? The Van Halen guitarist on drums...and Will Farrell on drums. Yes, seriously. We were a few feet from the stage and it was AWESOME!!! It was impossible to get drinks in there...just enjoying the music! After Sammy was done playing....we hit the casinos for some gambling. We ended up down at the Paris, where they have a little lounge with a DJ playing and a dance floor. They were playing a great song when we walked in so decided to do a little daning before we hit the slots. And some dancing we did!! :) FUN!!!! Stayed for about 2 drinks....danced to some great songs...then moved on! Don't remember how the night ended...but we found a gorilla that Vince and Dad made friends with somewhere in between casinos. Sure we stayed out too late, but made it all back to our rooms safely & to rest up for day 2.
Day 2 started with a nice walk over to Bellagio to check out the Christmas displays. It is always soooo pretty! Walked the shops...very nice day! Hit the rooms early to rest up for the evening. We went to dinner at a GREAT steakhouse in the Forum shops..BOA Steakhouse. Amazing food! Amazing wine...fabulous desserts! This place was awesome. Mom and Dad treated us for Vince's birthday dinner. It was perfect!! We had a GREAT time!! They even lit a firework in on Vince's plate...very crazy!
After dinner we hit the strip again....ended up a number of places...but the funniest was the Mirage. We did TI, so unexciting...then Palazzo...LOVE IT there! We were walking the streets making stops at each casino along the way. Ended up at the outdoor bar/concert area right by Harrahs. There was a DJ playing who was fabulous! We stayed there and danced until 2am...when it closed!!? Closing at 2am on a Sat night in Vegas...are you kidding?! Mirage was the last place we ended up...tried to get into a club but that didn't work...so just gambled and hung out. Somehow made it home after saying goodbye to everyone...although each of us have very vague recollections of how we got home. All I know is that I woke up the next morning with my shoes & my jacket in my purse...ie...walked home in the freezing with no jacket...and barefoot. Explains the miserable cold I got the following week! ARGH! Do we never learn!!
This was an amazing and very fun Vegas trip!!!!! Can't wait till the next one! Need a month or 2 to recover after this though...haha! Happy Birthday again Vince!
