07.04.2018: Freedom Festival 2018

Happy 4th of July!!  As usual, Vince got up at 4am to go secure our spot on the grass right on the waterfront. VJ got up with him and they stared the party by setting up our chairs and popups.  The rest of us stayed sleep for a few hours until the sun came up! We all headed out to the party scene area for our Freedom Festival party!

 

We really just hung out, made friends with our neighbors, grilled a ton of food, and enjoyed this amazingly beautiful day!  I think this is the first year that it has been so warm & sunny out.  Usually it is gloomy...but not today!!  It was gorgeous!

 

After lunch, almost everyone went back to take naps.  The very, very early day drinking did most of the group in & they needed to take some time to recoup before the evening festivities started.  Some of the group (Christina & Lex) didn't come back out!  They were out for the night haha.

 

The fireworks show is by far the best in the county and considered one of the best in the world. It was wonderful as usual! Of course, after packing up all our gear and transporting it all back to the rooms, we needed some nightcaps!  It was a great, but very long day!!

 

 

 

07.03.2018: Cali Hearns Arrive

It was late, but the Cali Hearns finally converged into San Diego! Not sure why I only got pics of Maxwell, but I did haha! We stayed up late having drinks in the room, relaxing, an catching up!

 

07.03.2018: Dinner at Liberty Public Market

For dinner, we went over to Liberty Station and ate at the Liberty Public Market.  The Market has dozens of restaurants in it.  You can go around, order & pickup whatever you want to eat, and all sit outside at the common tables together.  Its like a giant warehouse of permanent food trucks (minus the truck).  They also have a full bar and microbrewery inside as well that you can get drinks and take outside.  Vince and I discovered this cool spot last time we were in town and LOVED it. It was the perfect place for a group of people! Everyone can get what they want to eat, yet we all can still eat together!

 

They have a place in here called Wicked Maine Lobster that serves lobster everything.  My favs are the lobster tacos and lobster mac & cheese.  So, so good!!!

07.03.2018: Hearn San Diego Vacay Begins!!

Vince, Drake and I rolled into San Diego late last night after Vince got off work, we packed up and left.   The TX Hearns flew into town early this morning and we picked them up at the airport about 8am! YAAAY!!  We were staying on Point Loma for the week and for the 4th of July Freedom Festival.  We have been looking forward to this week with the family for over a year now!  Let the good times begin!

 

The Cali Hearns weren't coming into town until late tonight after they got off work.  So, in the meantime, we just hung out around the base, caught up with VJ, Sarah, and kids.  We also made a big store run to stock up on drinks and food for the week.  We weren't planning on leaving the base tomorrow during the festival, so made sure to get all the provisions we needed to last us the day!
