Tis the season for persimmons! And with persimmons, you get persimmon cookies!
It is crazy that in the past week, Brent, Kenny and I have all had discussions with our significant others about this infamous fruit. Turns out, the persimmon is very much a California thing. The family across the street from Gramma & Papa had a tree, so we were blessed with an abundance of persimmon cookies (made by Gramma) this time of year. It seems like no one else has ever had these, or heard of them.
On our way back from CA this past weekend, we stopped at a roadside stand to buy some persimmons so that I could make persimmon cookies. They didn't come out like Gramma's...and I realized that they basically had to be almost rotten to make the cookies. They were too ripe so the texture wasn't the same. Oh well...it was fun making them anyways.
