03.31.2014: Happy Birthday Brian Greene

Today was Brian Greene's birthday....and in traditional Hearn fashion it was only appropriate that we take him to celebrate with Juan.  Juan is the best birthday person to celebrate a birthday with!!  And I think he is good luck too.....

03.28.2014: Dance Competition Weekend

This weekend was a big dance seminar and competition in downtown Phoenix for Brianna's dance group.  It was a full weekend seminar, with 2 very, very long days of dancing, classes and competitions.  A lot of work for girls this age...and very emotional!  The weekend opened with some competition dances, and then they did classes for the next day & 1/2...and ended with them performing some of the new dances they learned.  Brianna had a BLAST and it was such a good experience for her too!  Her team did GREAT and won a few awards...which is amazing for this being their first big competition.

03.22.2014: Dinner with Ray & Lois

Tonight we had dinner with Ray & Lois.  They were getting ready to head home in a week or so we knew this was probably our last chance to see them this trip.  I feel sad when they leave each year because I know the time we get to spend with them is precious.....and this was a tougher trip for me with them.  Ray reminds me SO MUCH of Papa.   Hard to not get emotional thinking about it.  So, it was good we got to spend another dinner & evening with them before they left.  It is hard to get on their schedule though!  It is PACKED!!!  They have dates lined up for the entire time they are here...we have to work our way in.  Needless to say, we are blessed to get their time!!

03.20.2014: Lunch with Ray & Lois

Vince and I met Ray & Lois, Alisa, Brent, Andrew, Brianna and Avery for lunch at one of our local spots out in Mesa.  The place is called Crackers and it sooooo good!  Its one of our definite go-to's!

Before everyone got there, Vince and I went next door to the Home Depot to check out their flower selections.  We have been on the hunt for the perfect flowers for the patio, and just cant find the ones we like.  But, we did find these amazing cacti in full bloom!!  Who knew the desert could be so pretty!

03.15.2014: Sleepover with the Kiddos!!!

First order of business once we got home...a NAP!!!  Well, at least for Vince and Avery! :)  The bigger kids and I went to Marshalls to get some sleepover clothes and bating suits.  Love spur of the moment trips like this! Usually I'm the one on the trip though. Breaking them in to being spontaneous early :)

After a successful trip to Marshalls, the older kids hit the pool.  We decided that after dinner we were going to walk down to the Sweet Republic ice cream shop down the street.  It is basically world famous, and we had never been there!  It was similar to Cold Stone creamery...but their mint ice cream was beyond amazing.  It is made with real mint leaves...nothing like mint ice cream you buy in the store.  Sooo good!

So the excitement started on the walk home.  About halfway there, we noticed that it was SUPER dark!  Like SUPER dark!  All the street lights were out...no lights on in the buildings that we could see.  As we got closer, we realized that the power was out in the area.  We hadn't had a power outage at our place during the night.  It was soooo quiet and so dark.  There was a full moon out though, so it was bright - outside. Once we got inside it was really dark though.  Kids were a little freaked.  We lit candles and got out all the camping flashlights for them to play with.  We actually played blackjack by candlelight, which was kinda cool!  Took their minds off the darkness.  Later we went and laid out by the pool under the moon and stars.  We could see a lot of them since all the power was out in the area. But the kids were all super loud...which was magnified in the silence....so we went back inside!

We decided to all go to bed...and about 2 hours later the power came back on...along with all the lights, and machines, an everything else.  There was beeping going on all over.  We all jumped out of bed completely freaked out.  Avery swore there was a shopping cart in Drakes room (the wheelchair kind that beep when you back them up).  All she could talk about was the shopping cart in the room!  (It was our big printer rebooting!)  Hilarious though.

Soooo, what I failed to mention earlier was that Avery is still in the "pita" stage...pacifier.  But of course we didn't have it, because we had nothing.  So we decided she could do without it for the night.  Haha....this was interesting!!  She slept in our bed, and her & I stayed up talking until she could fall asleep.  Reliving every moment of the day...the planes drawing picture in the sky, driving all the planes, etc.  She was sooooo cute!!!  She kept begging for it..."please Cassy, I need my pita".  Sooo heartbreaking!!  Vince couldn't take it...he almost got in the car to go buy her one (more than once!!).  He had to go to sleep out of pure heartache!! So she had just gotten to sleep, and then the power came back on....so the cycle started all over again.  It was rough!!  But she finally fell asleep and when she woke up she was soooo proud of herself that she was a big girl and she didn't need her pita! It was a moment!

Such a sweetie pie!!

Cuteness!!
So I ALWAYS have to take a pic of all the kids in this favorite chair of mine.  I have various ones throughout the years.  It is great to see how they have grown and how they used to fit all side by side in this chair.  Someday I will do some side by side comparisons one day...gotta find them all though!

Avery making a break for it...the other kids are sooo patient!

Everyone is HAPPY

And the little one is DONE
