On Thurs night, we all ate dinner at the Mexican restaurant at South Point Casino. Mom had made "travel bags" for everyone, which included exclusive 4th Annual t-shirts, personalized cups, decorated Lake Mead hats, cup coo-zies...and a variety of stuff for the kids. This is the first year we have had such novelties and it was GREAT!!!
Friday morning we woke up bright and early to head to Calville Bay for the big launch! We had some houseboat mechanical issues which set us back a few hours....soooo not fun!!! (Hopefully Mom got a discount for that one!) Anyways, we set off....houseboat, Mom & Dad's boat, Andrew's SeaDoo, and another rented SeaDoo. Let the fun begin!!!!
After finding the perfect beach...which we did - thanks to the scouters...we unloaded all the beach chairs and prepared for 4 days of sun & water....and eating and drinking...and tubing and skiing....and drinking and singing...and dancing and laughing....and games....and PICTURES! :)
OK, so let me back up a bit...there were a lot of "first's" this year! Especially thanks to Mom....for assigning "jobs" to everyone beforehand....and to Kerry for being the FUN coordinator! We had daily "events" that Kerry planned out....as well as initiating the annual "Calville Cup" Trophy!! :) Whooohooo!!
Back to Day 1....after we got all settled, the fun began. Vince started off the cooking competition by making his famous chicken & sausage meal. (Yuuummm...and what a winner it was!! No bias there!) While the grilling was going on, the Rookie Initiation events began. We had 6 rookies this year...Mike, Annette, Vicki, Matthew, Eric & Steph! They first had to blow up the "Man Tube" or the "Boob Tube" depending on who is occupying it at the time. Then they had to go on a scavanger hunt looking for random items that are "naturally" found at Lake Mead. FYI - None of these "natural" items actually came from Lake Mead, but it was better than them having to find ones that did!!!
After the Rookie events, Kerry instigated a little Chicken Fight in the water with most of the (younger) couples participating, and the 2 boys. Andrew ended up winning....probably had a little help from his partner (Chris)!!
After a delicious dinner....the music, singing and dancing began. It all started downstairs in the boat with Jason and Andrew doing dueling Michael Jackson dances...then it moved upstairs. We did a little karaoke, mostly dancing and just hanging out. Some drank a LITTLE too much, no names mentioned...as it was only the first day. We had 2 more nights for everyone else to catch up!! Oh - Vince did get Brianna to sing karaoke!! First ever I think! :) Had to be one of her songs, of course..."Big Girls Don't Cry"....Andrew helped out on the mic...wow, he knows all the words!!!! GREAT first day though....and went to bed with hopes of no wind, no rain, and tough ropes. (For an explanation on that one, see last year's Houseboat Trip blog!!)
