06.24.2011: Hearns Head to the Beach

Vince, Drake and I headed down to San Diego.  We immediately went to the base, checked into our rooms and hit the beach!  I had never been to this beach before....it is waaaaaay down the same beach as the Del is on...however since it is on base I had never been there before.  North Island Coronado is teh same base that Brent was stationed at when he was in SD....but I had never been to this side of it before. We were on the ocean side, not the bayside.  The Del was to our left...and you could see Point Loma off to our right.  The hotel & beach were right next to the flight line so every once in a while there were fighter jets landing right next to us.  While some might find that annoying, I found it amazing!

Anyways, these rooms turn out to be FABULOUS!  They are beach front...literally sand at your doorsteps.  And did I mention the basically private beach you get?? So once we got settled, we hit the sand.....the boys played football in the sand....had running races.....played in the water...you know, beach stuff!!

For dinner we went to one of my old favorite Coronado hot spots....Coronado Brewing Company.  We had the yummiest dinner then went for a walk down on the ferry landing.  Did a little shopping, checked out the bay.....great view of downtown!!  It was late, and we were EXHAUSTED so we headed back to our room for a little sleepy time!  What a great, long day!

06.24.2011: Avery Meets Gramma & Papa

Friday morning Vince, Drake and I were going to head down to San Diego for the next few nights.  We had reservations on the Coronado Navy Base right on the beach....so were going to make the most of it.  We couldn't get another room until Sat night, so Alisa & kids were going to stay in Riverisde one more night.  Before we hit the road again, we all went to visit Gramma & Papa.  Avery couldn't wait to meet them!

When we got there, they were both in the garden.  Alisa & Avery went inside with Gramma, and the rest of us stayed in the garden for a while.  It was a very warm day....but the kids had a great time picking veggies...and eating them right off the plants.  The garden looked gorgeous!  There were soooo many veggies growing...many were ripe, some were just on the verge.  The kids found some stuff to pick though...and Nana took full advantage of the cherry tomatoes :)  Her fav....

Pokey was looking for Drake fingers again...not too long ago, he took a good size chunk out of them!
Hello Miss Avery!!  Meet Gramma & Papa!
Papa couldn't wait to hold her!  She was sleeping for a while...then woke up and wasn't too sure about him!  He still didn't want to let her go though...he was enjoying every moment!

06.23.2011: Escape While You Can....Cali Here We Come

While most people were sulking in misery here in Arizona, Vince and I decided to take control of our lives...and dragged Alisa with us!  We hit the road for California...land of trees, flowers, beaches, family and cool weather!!  Actually Vince and I were planning to come out for a few days just to get a break from the heat and to go to the Spark twins birthday party in San Diego....and convinced Alisa to bring the kids out too.  They just bought a new Tahoe that was begging for a road trip....and Avery had never been to CA before either.  Brent was working up in Flagstaff all week anyways, so it worked out perfect.

We left Fri morning, and I drove with the girls in the Tahoe.  Vince took our car with Drake and Andrew.  Avery is the most perfect traveling baby....she sleeps & talks and just basically sits in her seat completely content.  She did great on the 5 hour road trip.  We got into Riverside about 4pm....kids did not hesitate to get in the pool immediately.  I did too...it was quite refreshing!  We had our standard Albertos for dinner too, which is the Friday Night Special!!  We were loving it!

In the evening we needed to give Avery a bath...which is her most favorite (besides eating and sleeping) thing to do!  Since we didn't have a tub for her, we just used the sink...which she fit perfectly in.  She actually loved it...we dubbed it the Avery spa.  She loves being naked....just like her brother & sister....except when I was taking her pic while Mom was holding her...she went from smiling to all shy :)  Oh well!

06.18.2011: Hearn Daycare

Brent and Alisa were heading out to buy a new vehicle....upgrading from the Honda Acord to a Chevy Tahoe.  Car buying is horrendous!!!  But they knew exactly what they wanted...and got it!  While they were out battling salespeople, Vince and I got to hang with the kiddos.  Vince took Andrew & Brianna swimming for the day & I stayed inside with Avery.  I don't think I put her down once...and didn't mind one bit!!  She is the best baby ever and I could hold her forever.

After a day of car shopping and buying a gorgeous new black Tahoe, Brent & Alisa were ready for a drink and a good dinner of RIBS.  Everyone was wore out, but was a great day!

At Hearn Daycare, you better bring one old enough to watch the youngest...haha!!  Just kidding...thought this was hilarious though...Andrew was watching tv & "watching" Avery as I was getting her bottle ready..one of the few times I put her down.  "Watching" was making sure her plug didn't fall out...haha :) What a good big brother!!!

06.12.2011: Cool Patriotic Pics

At the Palazzo, as you walk out to go thru the mall over to the Venetian...they have this HUGE waterdall display that they change the theme to every month or so...always gorgeous and interesting!  This time it was all patriotic...very cool!!! So had to take some pics of Vince around all the flags....just thought it was very USA :)

06.11.2011: Vegas - VIP Style

Brian had gotten a VIP table at Chateau...the night club at the Paris with free bottle service.....so VIP style, we took advantage!!  It was 1/2 indoor, 1/2 outdoor...our table was outside looking over the Bellagio.  Tonight, Ciara was performing live, so it was especially packed!  We got there early, after waiting in lines to get in with all the other supposed "VIP"s...drank our 1st bottle of Vodka...walked around....danced....and left!  Our personal waitress person just hung around over our table and danced...and she was wierd...and it kinda just creeped us all out!  I guess maybe some drunk young guys might have liked it...but for us, it was just very wierd.  Ciara didn't come on for another couple hours and we didn't want to hang around and wait...and besides, I was the only one who really wanted to see her (or even knew who she was!!)  Haha!  Oh well..it was pretty cool being up there & having our private table.

06.10.2011: First Vegas Trip of the Year....Cosmo Baby, Cosmo!

Amazingly this is the first time Vince and I went to Vegas this year!!  Normally we go every month or every other month-ish...either for work or play...but we haven't been up here since Dec 1st!! CRAZY!  Anyways, we had gotten a few free offers to stay at the newest hotel - the Cosmopolotain...aka COSMO!  Can I tell you that this hotel is AMAZEBALLS!!  The only hotel in Vegas that has a balcony that you can walk out on!  LOVE IT.  I could have stayed in the hotel all day and just sat on the balcony & relax.  Which I did much of the time anways. We had 4 free nights there...which is too much for Vegas, but really nice when you have an amazing room.   We brought a ton of food and our own bar :) I made Long Island Ice Teas, Bloody Mary's each morning, tons of snacks, a case of Bud Light, champ, etc......it was great!

Also our balcony overlooked the Bellagio fountain...so we got to see every water show that they had....day & night!  It was awesome.  We would have "happy hour" for the group each night before we hit the town to get toasted up on our free booze and snacks.  Loved it!

We also went to go see the BeeGees (Impersonators, of course)...it started pretty slow, but picked up and everyone was up dancing at the end.  It was pretty fun!!  Only drawback was that it was at the Excalibur at a horrible theater.  Oh well...it was fun!

05.22.2011: Brent's 30-Something Birthday

On Sunday, we went back over to Brent & Alisa's to celebrate Brent's birthday.  He is up in his 30's now so we wont mention his exact age....he is gaining on me though.  Drake came over with us to and met his newest cousin for the first time.  He was sooooo excited to meet her and could not wait to hold her.  He was all cheesed up...and said it was the first time he has ever gotten to hold a baby before.  So cute!!  Avery was quite content...

Kenny and the dogs made the trip down from Flagstaff too later in the afternoon.  This was Kenny's first meeting Avery too!  Big day for the little girl!

Mom and Dad had bought some yummy steak and lobster for dinner.  Vince did them up on the grill....and when I say "did them up", I mean DID THEM UP!  The steaks at least.  Brent has by far the hottest grill on the planet, and Vince charred him some meat!!! Some of the group who like their steaks well done didn't seem to mind...and actually liked the char.  The lobster came out perfect, as usual.  I can only give Vince a hard time and make it publicly known that he burned up some meat because 100% of the rest of the time it is absolutely perfect.  Haha!!!  So, this was his one and only give-me.  Happy Birthday Brent!!! :)

The kids all designed Brent a big monster birthday card.  Now they are explaining the pictures and what they mean.

Avery wasnt much help this year...but guarantee you next year she will be blowing out those candles too!
