01.30.2016: Winning Moments

Today, on the way to the game, I stopped to pick up Nana from dance class.  Dance ended at 2, and the game started at 2, so we missed the first half.  Alisa was texting us updates though!  Andrew had a TD pass, extra point pass, and a run in for a TD all in the first half!  The other team caught up and were up by 1 TD.  As the clock was winding down, with 40 seconds left, we got the ball back.  The kids ran hurry-up offense all the way down the field.  On the last play, with time expiring, Andrew thru a pass to Conner in the back of the end zone.  He caught it...for the TD and the WIN!!  It was sooooo exciting!!  The kids were on cloud 9, the parents were going crazy, the coaches were so excited!!  It was fun!  Such a good win and these boys really needed it!!

01.23.2016: Costa Rican Dinner - kinda

Tonight both Vince and Brent were out of town, so I spent the day with Alisa and the kiddos.  We decided to try out a new dinner place (well, new to us anyways).  It is called Republica Empanada and was in downtown Mesa.  They said they served traditional "tico food".  ie....Costa Rican food.

Well, while it was nice finding a restaurant that had a little culture to it, I wouldn't call it traditional tico food.  They didn't even use Salsa Lizano!!??  What!?  The food was ok...and it was fun getting out and trying something new...but it was NOT Costa Rican! :)

01.23.2016: More Football Fun

Another football game....although this was a rough one!!  The kids they played today were HUGE.  Like not even fair game HUGE.  Not to mention they were the "Raiders" and they acted like the Raiders.  So did their fans - aka the parents!  It wasn't the best of games, and was pretty discouraging with the players, the coaches, and the "fans".  Glad to be done with this one!! Kids kept good attitudes though and fought through!!

01.16.2016: Alisa's Birthday Dinner with the Family

Ray & Lois met us all for dinner at Black Angus in Mesa tonight to celebrate Alisa's birthday.  We had such a good experience last time we all went, we decided to go back again.  It was good...except Mom & Dad ordered the wrong thing!!  (Prime rib instead of rib eye!! Silly!)  It was a great dinner though...I got to play with Avery on her kids menu the whole time.  She couldn't handle me winning at tic-tac-toe though...so I didn't.  She took over, stole my crayon and "played for me".  Unfortunately, I started losing at that point!!  Haha She is a riot.

After dinner, we went back to Brent & Alisa's to watch the Cardinal game.  Ken & Kelsea were actually at the game, so we were texting them as we watched it on tv.  They said it was absolutely crazy there!!  And I believe it.  It was crazy in the house.  We were all having heart attacks.  "Cardiac Cards" for sure earned their name again tonight!  They won of course, which made for a great night!

During halftime, Avery planned to perform for us.  Brianna had made up tickets for the show, and we also had to wear "stickers".  Brianna made us all autograph books where there was a spot for Avery to sign on one side - the "Dancer"....and the other side for Brianna to sign - the "worker".  Soooo cute! So, she did 2 dances for us. Both very creative and unique...and very Avery!  After the show, she signed everyone's autograph books...then went around and took selfies with everyone!  And she didn't even charge for them!  So professional and crowd-loving!

01.16.2016: New Season, New Coaches, Same Team

Today was the first day of the new season of Andrew's flag football.  Same league, new coaches, same kids, same team.  I could tell Brent was a LITTLE bummed he wasn't coaching.  It was hard not to be.  He has been working with these kids together for a while...but it was very time consuming and he has a ton of work this spring.  And he gets stressed!  So, its good to have a change once in a while.  The kids did a great job. Tough first half, but they really made a comeback in the 2nd, and got within a few points.  Couldn't pull it off, but they showed some fight and determination!  Andrew mostly played QB...and had a TD pass and ton of great plays.  These boys have been playing together for a while, and it is starting to show.

Ray & Lois came over to watch

That kid behind Andrew was a giant...just like the rest of his team.

Forehead veins still bulging..even as a spectator! :)

No idea how Aidan pulled this pass down & held on.  Awesome drive to end the half.
