10.31.2014: Birthday Dinner with Juan

My birthday was pretty uneventful this year.  Vince was in San Antonio for the whole week.  On my birthday, Alisa, Brent and Avery took me out to lunch.  On Friday when Vince got home, we went to Houston's for a late bday dinner with Juan.  This is my bday tradition every year...so I enjoyed it!  HAVE to get our pics with him :)  So glad he is still there to greet us every year!

 

10.25.2014: Dinner with Charles & Family

Charles was in town for a few days and his grandson had a BJJ tournament here in Phx this weekend.  Charles' son, Chris, and daughter, Marquita, and their kids came up for the weekend, so we had a little dinner at our house for them.  Vince made his famous fried chicken and we had a bunch of sides as well.  Glenn, Jan and Jackie all made it over to visit for a while too.  We had a great time and everyone seemed to have fun.

 

 

10.25.2014: Brianna's Dance at the AZ State Fair

Saturday morning, I met Alisa, Kenny, Kelsea and the kids to go the AZ State Fair to watch Brianna perform with the Cambridge Dance Academy.  They were one of the last groups to go so we got to see LOTS of girls dances haha! It was cute though seeing all the different styles, ages, levels, etc....

 

Brianna's group did amazing.  They did a dance to the music from the movie Rio & were all dressed as birds.  She looked so pretty....and GROWN!  It was fun...and really hot!



 

 

After her performance, we walked around a little.  Kenny wanted to get his deep fried Reeses Cup.  Avery is always "starving" so she got a basket of fries.  Enough to feed 20 people, but she insisted they were hers and wasn't too fond of sharing.  Esp with Kenny! :)

10.24.2014: Happy Avery Day!

Alisa said one day that I should just rename this the Avery blog....I think she is right!!  Today for sure, at least!  She is just too cute...and when I get to go babysit her, she always says "let's take some pitures" (not pictures, pitures).  So of COURSE we do!!!  Probably since she knows I am always taking pics...always have my camera...and she knows she is one of my favorite subjects!  She likes to not comply and not take "pretty" pictures though.  Mind of her own....  I will take what I can get haha!

 

Today, Alisa went on a field trip with Brianna's class, so I got to hang out with this one all day!  Torture of course ;)

 

We played every game in the house...starting with some serious coloring.  Then puzzles, then matching games, then building castles with blocks....then upstairs to play with princesses, and her tool set (trying to saw the table in half)...then a tea party...then off to Brianna's room to NOT play with Brianna's stuff.  Haha...she said she is not allowed to play in Nana's room, but it would be ok for just a little bit. So we did (don't tell Nana...even though I am sure she knows every single thing that was moved out of its place in there!)

 

I asked if we could play in Piggys room too, and she said NO in a mean voice.  She said Piggy gets really mad at her for playing in his room and hits her and proceeded to simulate him hitting her!  Haha!!  Too funny because he is the LAST person on the planet that would ever hit her!  I couldn't even not laugh at her.  She has a wild imagination though.  She almost couldn't even say it herself without laughing! :)  We never made it to Piggys' room though...she got hungry!

 

Made some sandwiches, then outside to eat & play for awhile...then back inside for more coloring.  And no we don't take naps! :)  WOW!  Talk about a busy day!  I don't know how Alisa gets anything done while the kids are at school!

10.22.2014: Happy Wine Day

OK, it's not officially Wine Day, but in our house it is!  We got our first shipment of our Darioush wine!!  They ship twice a year...well that is what we signed up for...fall and spring...6 bottles each shipment.  The fall shipment is the Pinot Noir.  It sells out before it can get to the winery, so unless you belong to their wine club, you basically can't get this stuff!  Soooo, we of course signed up for their wine club while we were there earlier in the year.  Whoop whoop!!  So excited for today!  This stuff is going in the secret hiding spot where no one can get to it!!  Saving a few for someday down the road.

 

10.19.2014: Chargers vs Chiefs



We didn't get to head in as early as usual...as usually get in so we can watch the Charger practice before the game. We were having too much fun tailgating...and then I bumped into an old friend as we were walking in.  I actually knew a bunch of people who were going to be there today, but we literally bumped into Diana right as we were going inside.  We worked together at SDCR years ago, and she still works there.  She married one of the guys we worked with, and he actually passed away unexpectedly last year.  So, so sad!!  So, it was really good to see her, but brought back some sad memories of Frank.

 

At halftime, Michelle and I met up as well.  Finding her was a debacle though!  We were planning to meet up to say hi.  She was there with her work group, but wanted to get together at some point and wanted to come say hi to Mom & Dad too. So we planned to get together at halftime....but it was crazy trying to find each other!  Took the entire time!  So she came down to our seats for a few and we caught up quickly!  It was soo good to see her...she looks the exact same!

 

Oh yeah, there was a football game going on too.....go Chargers!! 

Except they lost.  :(
