10.30.2013: Birthday Celebration #2

For my birthday day, Vince and Drake got me a cake, and we celebrated at home!  Vince got me flowers, and wine...and Drake made me a birthday tiara at school.  It was nice spending the evening at home with two of my favorite guys!!!  I look crazy because I just went running...can't stop working out just because its my birthday! :)

 

10.29.2013: Annual Houston's Birthday Dinner with Juan

Every year since Vince and I met, we have been going to Houston's for my birthday dinner...and for our picture with Juan.  I know its weird, but we really like Juan...and we really like Houston's.  Had to have my traditional cosmo's to start off the night....then followed with an amazing dinner!!

 



10.29.2013: Gramma & Papa's 58th Wedding Anniversary

Today would have been Gramma & Papa's 58th Wedding Anniversary!  It is refreshing to know that they never had to spend their anniversary alone.  The spent 57 of them together here on earth, and now are able to celebrate together in heaven.  They have always been an amazing example of what marriage and love is supposed to be about.  Their continuing dedication to each other and their families lasted them and held strong until their final moments here on earth. 

 

This picture is them on their wedding day, on their 25th Anniversary celebration in their back yard, and of their surprise 50th anniversary at my parents house.  So fitting I think!

10.26.2013: Arizona Jazz Fest

Vince and I met Brian and Thereisa at the AZ Jazz Fest at the Arizona Grand Resort.  Well, actually we met them at Wile Horse Pass casino which is right down the street for some pre-game drinks and dinner.  Charlie Wilson was headlining the fest today so we were VERY excited to see him.  

 

 Brian Culbertson, Gerald Albright, and Richard Elliott opened up the day.  They were amazing and it was cool watching them all play together.  It was my first time seeing them.

 

Chaka Khan was next...she took forever to come out.  I think they were having some DIVA issues back there....but once she came out, she was amazing!!  So many great songs I knew...without knowing it was her!

 Eryka Badu was next...didn't know many of her songs, but what an amazing voice!

 Charlie is here!!!!  He was unbelievable! I highly recommend anyone going to see him, no matter if you know his music or not.  Very highly entertaining...one of the best concerts I've ever been to!

 Yes, he had multiple outfit changes tonight!

10.26.2013: Andrew's Football Game

Andrew had a flag football game this morning so we headed out to Mesa to cheer him on.  He played quarterback most of the game & did really well.  Had to capture a few shots of the little one too!

 

 

10.21.2013: Christina's AZ Work Visit

The benefits of Christina taking over a bigger territory, including all of AZ, for work...is that we get to see her much more often!  These little one & two days trips are wonderful and let us catch up more in person!! 

 

10.19.2013: Drake Football Game

 

After the girls soccer game, we headed over to Drake's football game.  By this time in the afternoon it was HOT.  They were playing over at PV High School, so it was kinda cool watching from the stands and the boys being able to play on a super nice turf field.  It was also nice that the kids were separate from all the parents...so they could focus on the game and not be able to mix & mingle with the parents on the sidelines.  It felt more "professional"!

 

This was a tough game...the other team was much more experienced and bigger.  The Longhorns hung in there though and played a great game!  Drake had a couple great tackles on defense, and played the line on offense.

10.19.2013: Hearn Girls Soccer Game

 

Makenna and Shay started playing soccer for the first time this year, and Eric (and Karissa) volunteered to coach...knowing nothing about soccer, or coaching kiddos!  So, needless to say, they have been having a stressful few weeks!!  I guess the other parents are horrible which makes for an even more exciting season!  Haha!  The girls are loving it though so that is what really matters!  So, of course we had to go out to check out the action for ourselves.

 

Shay is definitely the more aggressive one, and seemed to be enjoying herself a little more.  Makenna wasn't having as much fun, but still got out there and gave it her best. 

 

 Makenna had a fall, and was walking around holding her arm.  There was a scratch on it :)

 The most "interesting" part of the game was when the goalkeeper starting yelling for Karissa to tell her there was a scorpion walking across the field.  This this was HUGE, and mad.  Guess he didn't want people playing on his field.  So, Vince sacrificed his Starbucks cup so they could capture it and relocate it.

 Shay took a tumble here....but got back up ready for revenge!  Next play, I think a few elbows were thrown :)
